Fans were in a dilemma about Cody Rhodes‘ potential future with WWE after a heartbreaking loss against Roman Reigns at the Grandest Stage of Them All. However, past week’s Monday Night Raw saw the American Nightmare demanding a rematch with The Tribal Chief. After some initial resistance, Solo Sikoa & the Tribal Chief vs Cody Rhodes & Brock Lesnar tag team match got booked. But the fans again witnessed a disappointing finish with Rhodes defeated by Reigns following a major betrayal by The Beast Incarnate.
The clips of the match got record viewership numbers on WWE’s official YouTube channel, probably because it successfully teased a new build-up between Lesnar and Rhodes. Despite the hype for the current feud, WWE sowed the seeds of this brawl back in 2012. Cody Rhodes openly expressed his anger with his current opponent back then.

There are very few wrestlers who are as passionate as Cody Rhodes. From being a mere mid-card wrestler to rising to the WrestleMania main event is not easy, and didn’t come easy as well. The Prince of pro wrestling had to work tirelessly to reach this place. And quite naturally, taking unnecessary breaks was certainly not in his dictionary.
On the other hand, Brock Lesnar shifted to his part-time schedule at that time. Despite possessing incredible talent, the Beast Incarnate fought a maximum of 4 to 5 matches between 2012-2013. It was something that didn’t sit well with Rhodes for obvious differences in perception.

During a past interview, an enraged Rhodes noted, ‘And now with the return of Brock… it’s completely different than The Rock. But for me, it kind of just made me angry and not in a way like, ‘Oh, blast. They get to be on another pay-per-view.’ More in a way than that – I’m out there working. I never take a day off. I never plan on taking a day off. I’m so in love with the wrestling business, I couldn’t see myself going away. And these guys have that ability to come back in because they have that presence, they have that following and are just automatically accepted as superstars again.’
Speaking of their future encounter, it seems like WWE already set something big for them in the near future.
