Daniel Ricciardo Unimpressed by Romain Grosjean’s British Grand Prix Antics

Romain Grosjean didn’t rake in a lot of glory during last Sunday’s British Grand Prix. The Haas driver made two very risky defensive moves, drawing the wrath of the F1 world and Mark Webber in particular.
Grosjean moved under braking and almost took out Carlos Sainz and Daniel Ricciardo in the space of a couple of laps. His risky driving style earned him a black and white (warning) flag.

While we heard Sainz on the radio, sounding annoyed after Grosjean’s antics, Ricciardo’s reaction was to call the move “sketchy.”
However, the Australian has since revealed more on what he thought of the move and what steps he plans to take in regard to it.

According to Motorsport.com, Ricciardo said, “Romain has been around long enough. I didn’t want to go in and educate him, he should know by now what he is doing.
“When he saw the video, he realized that it was a little bit late. I didn’t feel the need to go back and forth.”

Furthermore, the Renault driver said, “We’ll probably bring it up in the next drivers’ meeting next week, just to get the other views. But I’m sure everyone is on board, it was just a little too late.”
Despite being held up and almost taken out of the race by Grosjean, Ricciardo managed to get past him. The Australian crossed the checkered flag in P4.

Thus equaling his best-ever points finish for Renault. His impressive performance last week puts him at 9th on the Drivers’ Championship standings. He’ll be hoping for more of the same at this week’s race.
As for Grosjean, he is yet to open his points tally for the season. And it seems unlikely that it will happen anytime soon. He’ll know if he can’t improve his performances, he could very well be the fall guy come 2021.

With someone as talented as Nico Hulkenberg without a contract, Haas may well be tempted to drop the struggling Frenchmen.
