RedFall is an open-world multiplayer FPS shooter, which is a very unique category for Arkane, as it’s hard to imagine them implementing their world-building magic in this. But last year when the game’s reveal happened, many Arkane fans drew similarities to the 2008-released Left 4 Dead by Valve. The developers have finally shared their take on this comparison.

Redfall is more Far Cry than Left 4 Us – claims the director

The Arkane creative director Ricardo Bare claims the game sound like Arkane’s trial to make a RedFall, but it’s closer to Far Cry by Ubisoft. He believes their upcoming game has a familiar territory like Far Cry over exotic locations to explore. The game will feature lots of creepy cornfields, abandoned farmhouses, and bars. These places have been taken over by blood-sucking undead and cultists.

Bare claimed, “When I say we wanted to stretch, that’s what I mean: What if we took all of our experience – and our creative values – and put it into an open world?” The game has a huge open-world setting, even bigger than Prey’s Talos I. Moreover, he claimed the game would not force players to kill the vampires. Instead, they can play at their pace and explore the world.

The Arkane creative director further claimed what would make the game different from Far Cry is the scale. He believes Ubisoft’s open worlds are extremely large and fast-paced. But Redfall will be slower and not the open world as large as Far Cry. They want the players to experience the creep of going through a cornfield at night while hearing vampiric whispers. Then coming across a farmhouse full of cultists, but there are few survivors for the players to save.
