Would Hogwarts Legacy let players serve the dark side?

Avalanche Software, the developer of the title, has made no official statements regarding the choice between good and evil for the game. However, at several points, the trailer hints at some form of a morality system or ‘your choices matter’ mechanic being in the game. To quote the trailer:

“Your potential is limitless. But what form will it take? The journey ahead will reveal what you stand for.”

This statement hints at the possibility that the player’s progression in Hogwarts Legacy could take several forms. The player is still a young student during the game. And going by the Harry Potter movies, for every Harry Potter out in Hogwarts, there exists a Draco Malfoy. Notably, the statement alludes to your character having to choose a side, or “reveal what you stand for.”

WATCH THIS STORY- Harry Potter Games to play while you wait for Hogwarts Legacy

DC Allen, a writer of Hogwarts Legacy, had this to

say to a question regarding players killing other characters in the game, as reported by GamingBible.

“Are they not allowed to kill in 16+ games? I feel like you could fully kill bad guys in Horizon Zero Dawn, it just wasn’t bloody. I don’t think I can answer your question directly but in the trailer you can see there is a lot of evil occurring in the wizarding world.”

This strongly implies that players have the option of killing in-game characters during the story. This would also fit with the trailer concluding with how our choices can shape the legacy of Hogwarts. But none of this has been officially confirmed, so take this with a grain of salt.
