Would Hogwarts Legacy let players serve the dark side?
Avalanche Software, the developer of the title, has made no official statements regarding the choice between good and evil for the game. However, at several points, the trailer hints at some form of a morality system or ‘your choices matter’ mechanic being in the game. To quote the trailer:
“Your potential is limitless. But what form will it take? The journey ahead will reveal what you stand for.”

DC Allen, a writer of Hogwarts Legacy, had this to
say to a question regarding players killing other characters in the game, as reported by GamingBible.“Are they not allowed to kill in 16+ games? I feel like you could fully kill bad guys in Horizon Zero Dawn, it just wasn’t bloody. I don’t think I can answer your question directly but in the trailer you can see there is a lot of evil occurring in the wizarding world.”
This strongly implies that players have the option of killing in-game characters during the story. This would also fit with the trailer concluding with how our choices can shape the legacy of Hogwarts. But none of this has been officially confirmed, so take this with a grain of salt.
