While Formula 1 was on a break these past couple of weeks, the rest of the sporting world sure wasn’t. And it was a historic couple of weeks, to say the least. Manchester City won the UEFA Champions League for the first time, and while doing so, it achieved the Treble too. Ferrari won the centenary 24 Hours of Le Mans after a 50-year absence from the race, its first win since 1965. And Novak Djokovic won a record 23rd Grand Slam title at the French Open, becoming the first man in the Open Era to win all four Grand Slams at least thrice. And Alpine driver Pierre Gasly witnessed it all.

Every driver has a different way of unwinding—for Lewis Hamilton, it’s having lunch with Tom Holland and attending a Forbes Summit; for Lando Norris, it’s hanging out with DJ Martin Garrix; and for Gasly, it’s immersing himself deeper into sports. And after two weeks of doing so, in his words, he’s “fully recharged, ready to fire.”

With the Canadian GP weekend set to start today, drivers are back rejuvenated and ready to get back on track after two weeks. While many drivers took this time to visit different places, Gasly decided to head home to Paris. But it’s not to say that his time off was any less enjoyable than the others.

According to his post on Instagram, a weekend of sporting action that started with the Champions League Final ended with Gasly attending the French Open Final at Roland Garros. And the amount of history captured in those pictures makes it a historic montage in itself because people can look at and replay every moment that led to history being made that weekend.

  • 10th June—As much as he is a soccer fan, Pierre watched the UCL final from the comfort of his home. While he didn’t disclose who he was supporting in the match-up between Man City and Inter Milan, the picture he posted is a snapshot of City’s Jack Grealish. If Pierre’s choice of picture is any indication, he would’ve been happy with the match’s outcome.

It’s safe to say that Pierre had a refreshing time off. And while he was dressed as Al Pacino from Scarface at the French Open, another driver was dressed for the occasion as he attended the UCL Final in Istanbul.

Pierre Gasly wasn’t the only driver to watch history being made live. While he was in Paris, Mercedes driver George Russell decided to fly to Istanbul, Turkey, to watch the Champions League final in person. The Briton was a neutral fan during the match, but given that Manchester City is the Champion of England, Russell would’ve enjoyed watching the team from his country achieve glory.

After the match, while congratulating the players, he also appreciated City’s manager, Pep Guardiola, on Instagram, writing, “Pep you’re the man!” It’s not every day that history is made. And Gasly and Russell not only got to witness it but were also a part of it.
