Not winning is not something a man like Lewis Hamilton is used to. Not only has he not posed a challenge for the drivers’ championship, but he has also not won a single race so far. Needless to say, the season has been underwhelming for the 7-time world champion. However, he has still found something to cheer about amidst all the failure.
Ever since the start of the year, Mercedes struggled with one thing or the other. While it was the porpoising issue at the start of the season, the lack of pace and drivability of the car posed a challenge towards the second half. However, the Silver Arrows showed an indomitable spirit and came out on top in Brazil.

Lewis Hamilton finds something to cheer about amidst a “terrible season”
Lewis Hamilton has never had a season where he hasn’t won a single race. He came close to keeping it that way in Brazil, but teammate George Russell beat him to the chequered flag. The Stevenage boy now has just one shot at a victory in Abu Dhabi this Sunday.
Reflecting on the season ahead of the Abu Dhabi GP, Hamilton said, “It’s been a pretty terrible season. It’s definitely not been a good season in terms of performance but it’s been a really great season in terms of all the team having to push together. We’ve learned so many new things, we’ve harnessed new tools. We’ve found better and new ways of working together. So I think it’s been overall actually a really impactful year.”

Speaking on the Mercedes 1-2 result in Brazil, Hamilton continued, “Having that result not just informs us that we’re on the right track, we know where we need to put the car for next year and we should come back kind of guns blazing next year, kind of thing. It’s definitely going to still be tough.”
Mercedes kept threatening a win ever since they made final amendments to the car ahead of the US GP. Lewis finished 2nd behind Red Bull’s Max Verstappen in US and Mexico. While he finished 2nd again in Brazil, the podium was far more satisfying as he finished behind his teammate.
