If the drama on track wasn’t enough, Formula 1 is now going to be on the big screens, too! After the massive acclaim that Netflix’s Drive to Survive series has garnered, the sport has paired with Apple to bring F1 to Hollywood. Or should we say that Hollywood has come to Formula 1? That’s right, acting royalty and Academy Award winner, Brad Pitt is at the British GP this weekend. And he isn’t just attending. He will be driving a makeshift F2/F1 car in between official sessions as filming for the Apple film begins.

While everyone associated with the sport is hotly anticipating this $140,000,000 worth venture that has the full support and involvement of people like 7x champion Lewis Hamilton and F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali, some can’t help but feel a bit uneasy about the whole prospect.

By no stretch of the imagination is someone against the idea of the movie or Pitt featuring on track. That being said, though, with an F1 race weekend being all about the atmosphere, there does seem to be an alien element in the air at Silverstone this time around.

Ex-F1 driver, Jolyon Palmer explained this on the latest episode of the Chequered Flag podcast. He said, “It feels pretty weird! We’re at the Grand Prix, and we’re all so focused on the sport and yet, there is this sort of film set that is going on around us.”

“Brad Pitt for all intents and purposes will be lining up on the grid on Sunday. Which is completely ridiculous,” concluded Palmer and comes after Motorsport Magazine reported that Pitt may line up on the grid after a couple of Installation laps with the full F1 grid and may even take part in the parade lap leading up to the actual race.

And its not only Palmer who’s voiced his concerns about these proposed plans.

While talking about Pitt’s fictional 11th F1 team, APXGP and their supposed involvement at the British GP, the Brit was quoted as saying, “I’ve heard they’ll [APXGP] be joining us on the installation lap [on Sunday]. I just hope they don’t ruin that…”
