Daniel Ricciardo Set to Earn a Whopping $13 Million More Than Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc Despite Being Red Bull’s Reserve Driver

After a topsy-turvy couple of seasons with McLaren, Daniel Ricciardo will finally have some respite. Respite from the stressful life of a Formula 1 driver as he will witness most races from his third driver’s chair. However, the Australian has played a masterstroke in wealth accumulation. Ricciardo will astonishingly earn more than he has ever done in his 12-year-long F1 career. To put things in perspective, Ricciardo will earn $13 million more than Charles Leclerc.

We are not talking about Ricciardo’s entrepreneurial prowess. We are all aware of Honey Badger’s many business affiliations and the RIC3 brand. The Australian will make more money than he has ever made in Formula 1 without the various businesses. How? Let us tell you how!

The Australian will earn a total of $23 million in wages in the 2023 calendar year. The majority of the chunk will come out of his former team McLaren’s pockets. His current team will contribute a small chunk of the 23 million dollar payout as well. Let us give you the breakup.

The Australian is entitled to a massive $21 million from McLaren because of his early contract termination. According to Business Book GP and as reported by Sportune, the team will pay Ricciardo’s annual salary for 2023. The team will in fact pay $20 million in annual salary and an additional million dollars for his troubles.

Ricciardo is on Red Bull’s expense list for the remaining $2 million dollars.

However, the Australian is paid under the team’s ambassador role and not the third driver role. Safe to assume that has something to do with the budget cap.

The Australian is making all the right money moves. We are all aware of his St. Hugo collaboration and the RIC3 brand. However, Ricciardo has a long list of endorsements as well.

Ricciardo signed a two-year contract with the telecommunications company, SingTel Optus, in 2020. Despite the uncertainty, the company renewed the contract for a further two years. Ricciardo is also a brand ambassador and for popular companies like GoPro and Beats By Dr. Dre.
