It all started with Lewis Hamilton’s speculated move to Ferrari toward the start of the current F1 season. Then it was Hamilton retiring and Leclerc replacing him. Even a swap was speculated between the two. However, Charles Leclerc seems to have taken the final call about his decision to join Mercedes just 2 days after Frederic Vasseur offered Hamilton a deal to join Ferrari. What Is Leclerc’s final call?

Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton’s fate seems to be intertwined with each other for some time now. Their contract negotiations went different ways after a swap rumor earlier this year but have brought the duo back to the same place. Rumors have been going on of Frederic Vasseur offering Lewis Hamilton a chance to join Ferrari. However, the question that arises is whether Charles Leclerc is actually moving to Mercedes if it’s a swap.

Nonetheless, just 2 days after Hamilton was offered the Ferrari opportunity, Charles Leclerc reportedly took the final call on joining the Brackley stable. Sources suggest that the Monegasque has ruled out the possibility of joining Mercedes and replacing Lewis Hamilton. According to express.co.uk, French Outlet Sports Tune claims “Leclerc has agreed on a new two-year extension at Ferrari until 2026, with an option to have it extended further until 2029.”
