Fernando Alonso once again fell victim to the car’s reliability issues. The Alpine driver bowed out of the race on lap 28. This is Alonso’s 6th DNF of the season but the one which will hurt the fans the most.

Being Sebastian Vettel’s final race before retirement, fans were excited for Formula 1’s veteran drivers to put on a show after the race. Excited fans wanted to see Vettel, Alonso, and Lewis Hamilton do donuts on the track post-race. However, the hopes of all three of them doing it have gone down the drain.

Fans angry with Alpine as Sebastian Vettel’s retirement show spoiled with Fernando Alonso’s DNF

Fernando Alonso started out in P10 behind his old mate Sebastian Vettel. Ahead of the race, he vowed to protect his good friend as the lights go out. As the race started, Alonso did not really have to do that as drivers remained careful around Vettel. The Spaniard, however, once again kept falling down the grid owing to car issues.

He, however, showed grit as he overtook both Yuki Tsunoda and Valtteri Bottas in a single corner in Lap 23. Tsunoda, however, retook P11 from the Alpine driver soon. Lap 28 turned out to be ominous for Fernando, as he was called into the pits to retire the car.
