‘Happy’ Lewis Hamilton Flips the Switch on Mercedes After Shocking F1 Drive at Spanish GP

What a turnaround for the 7-time world champion Lewis Hamilton at the Spanish Grand Prix. The Mercedes driver found himself at the back of the grid after a first-lap contact with Haas driver Kevin Magnussen.
But he came home to finish in P5 just behind the Ferrari driver of Carlos Sainz. But what has probably caught the attention of many F1 fans is not just his impressive performance but also his radio messages.
The British driver was downbeat at the start of the race after the contact with Magnussen and had suggested to his team to consider retiring him to save the engine.

Lewis Hamilton thanks his team after an eye-catching comeback
The 7-time world champion, in one of his earlier radio messages to the team, mentioned that they should consider saving the engine of his car. He could not make a dent in the race and could not see a way through.
“I would save this engine guys if I was you. I’m sorry,” said Lewis at the beginning of the race.

But his team rallied him and pushed him through the race. Lewis was grateful for their support at the end of the race when team principal Toto Wolff came to commend him on his performance.

It is interesting to see how quickly the morale of the driver can change throughout the race. But sometimes it is odd to see Hamilton lose confidence in his team and car.
It just proves that the German team have a promising machine that is slowly getting better with every race. It looks like the Silver Arrows are back in the championship hunt in the 2022 season.
