Ever since the blistering run in Azerbaijan, Charles Leclerc hasn’t had a good outing in F1. The Monegasque scored podium finishes in both Sprint and the Main Race in Baku. However, since then, he has struggled with either the pace or the drivability of the car. Ferrari is ready to make things a bit easier for him as they plan on bringing a new set of upgrades to Spain. Leclerc, however, is far from convinced and delivered a reality check for Tifosi who are expecting a complete turn in the team’s fortunes.

Ferrari just had a forgettable race weekend in Monaco where they once again failed to land on the podium. Going into the race, they were the favorites to break Red Bull’s 5-race win streak. That was because of their car’s ability to generate significant downforce in slow corners. However, the reality turned out to be quite the opposite, as neither Carlos Sainz nor Leclerc managed to land even in the top 5.

Mercedes brought their first set of big upgrades in Monaco. Ferrari, however, waited for another week to bring in theirs. Without revealing much, team boss Frederic Vasseur gave the timeline of upcoming changes. Following the package in Spain, he ruled out any significant changes every 5 races. Vasseur revealed the plan to bring minor upgrades in every race instead.

Leclerc, speaking on Thursday in Spain, as per RaceFans, said, “not expecting any big miracles, to be honest.”

“From now on, we want to try and bring some small upgrades every race. This one should go in the right direction, but I don’t think it will be a massive change.”

The Tifosi sensed some hopelessness in his comments and quickly came to sympathize with him. Take a look at how the fans reacted in Twitter.

Sainz too felt that the team is only taking the first steps in tackling their deficiencies. However, he lauded the efforts of the engineers in Maranello for the amount of work they have put in. That is because he felt such a big set of changes was supposed to arrive pretty late in the season. Do you think the Prancing Horse can give the likes of at least Mercedes and Aston Martin a run for their money in Barcelona?
