“It Wasn’t a Great Deal”: Benevolent Sebastian Vettel Details His Unfortunate Robbery Incident

After the Spanish Grand Prix, Sebastian Vettel became the latest F1 driver to have been robbed. As it stood, the four-time world champion had his backpack stolen through the car window. Upon realizing this, the German set off on a wild goose chase to catch the robbers on a scooter.

What happened with Sebastian Vettel in Barcelona?
After his bag was stolen, a sharp-minded Vettel used his phone to track his headphones and found out the positions of the robbers via GPS. He did eventually find them, but couldn’t find the bag in which they were. Sebastian was asked about the robbery in Monaco and he explained the situation.
The Aston Martin driver said, “I was checking out in the morning from the hotel and had my bag in the car. When I just quickly went back in and came back out, the bag was gone.”

“After a while I realised my headphones were in the bag and I could locate them. I found the headphones but didn’t find the bag, so it was not really a chase.”
Vettel was also asked about the contents of the backpack. He replied it didn’t contain any valuable and that it was good luck that his passport happened to be in another bag. The former Red Bull driver was disappointed that he couldn’t get his backpack back because he really liked it.
“But I had, like, ID and insurance card, driver’s licence…that boring stuff that takes time to get back and you have to apply and fill out forms. I wasn’t very looking forward to that.”

“Fortunately, there was no money in there. There was bandages in there for the knee. Whoever picked the backpack, it wasn’t a great deal… But I really liked the backpack”
Other F1 drivers who have got robbed recently
As reported earlier, Sebastian Vettel is the third driver in the last 10 months to have been robbed. Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc and McLaren’s Lando Norris were also subjected to robbery.

Ahead of the Imola Grand Prix, the Monegasque had his watch stolen while taking photos with fans. It was reported by Motorsport.com, that the custom Richard Mille RM67 piece was stolen.
“The Monegasque was in Versilia with his athletic trainer, Andrea Ferrari, when shortly after 10 pm a group of people asked Charles to take a souvenir photo,” claimed the website.

Similarly, Lando Norris was also robbed ahead of the British Grand Prix in 2021. He was mugged at the Euro 2020 final at Wembley. He also had a Richard Mille watch stolen during the robbery.
