Daniel Ricciardo and Lando Norris hit it off really well ever since Daniel arrived at McLaren. They have both got similar personalities with always joking-laughing attitudes. Daniel’s departure from the team was already an emotional affair for the duo’s fans and now the scenes from their helmet swap have got them teary-eyed once again. However, some fans caught Lando doing something that lightened things up a bit.

Daniel Ricciardo arrived at McLaren last year with a lot of promise. There were expectations from the Honey Badger to deliver results from the get-go. However, things did not go as planned. While Ricciardo scored a win in Italy last year, the rest of the season was a dull affair. The season following, 2022, was even worse because his young teammate once again outperformed him.

Daniel Ricciardo-Lando Norris helmet swap gets fans emotional

McLaren recently posted a video of Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo exchanging helmets ahead of Ricciardo’s departure from the team. Daniel will join Red Bull as a reserve/developmental driver for the 2023 season. However, the helmet swap between the McLaren duo was a fun affair to watch.

Both drivers had some messages written for each other on the visors. While we expected there to be some emotional messages, knowing them both, they were hilarious. As Lando read the message from Daniel, he let out a laugh, but Daniel absolutely lost it when he read Lando’s. What did they both write? We do not know.

The conversation between the two when they were putting the helmets on was pretty hilarious, though. Lando struggled to fit into Daniel’s helmet, which invoked the Aussie to say, “Yeah I got a pea-head.” Ricciardo slid pretty easily into Lando’s helmet though and called him a “melon-head”.

Hawk-eyed fans secured some meme-worthy material

Fans had emotional reactions to the scenes, but some spotted a frame where Lando slightly touched Daniel’s posterior while hugging him.

Another fan caught Lando in the act.

The helmet swap had a fan recall the time when Lando exchanged helmets with Carlos Sainz before the Spaniard moved to Ferrari.

Daniel wore a special helmet for the last race of the season in Abu Dhabi and gave that away to his teammate. Pretty special gesture, for sure.

Daniel posing for a photo with Lando’s helmet mounted on top of his head had a fan wondering why he could not fit into it. Having watched the video, we can tell it was the other way around.

Another fan spotted the drivers’ reaction to Ricciardo reading Norris’ message and wondered if he wrote something hilarious.
