Mick Schumacher Likened to Leclerc & Russell in Interesting Three Year Ferrari F1 Prediction

Mick Schumacher is currently racing in Formula One with Haas F1 team. Although the German driver has not scored any points yet in his career, he has impressed everyone with his pace in the car. Schumacher is a Ferrari junior driver and is expected to follow in his father, Michael’s footsteps and join the Prancing Horses in the future.
But AlphaTauri team principal Franz Tost mentioned that Schumacher needs a little time before going to Ferrari. Tost revealed that the German driver needs at least three years before joining the Italian team.

He compared the trajectory of Schumacher’s career with Charles Leclerc and George Russell.

Franz mentioned that F1 is very complex and drivers need to learn everything quickly and show consistency in their performances. He also laid out a couple of goals that the young German would have to achieve before making the jump to the big team.

“It has to take another 3 years somewhere. Today, Formula 1 is an extremely complex sport. It takes at least three years for a driver to learn to drive at a high level. George Russell and Charles Leclerc also needed that time,” said the AlphaTauri team principal.

“First of all, he has to beat his teammate Kevin Magnussen consistently at Haas and try to be successful with Haas. For now, that’s his job, nothing more,” said Tost.

Schumacher has a new teammate for the 2022 season in the form of Kevin Magnussen. The Danish driver is a popular entity in the sport and is known for his raw speed and aggressive driving style. Beating him this season is essentially the first challenge for Mick in his F1 career.

If he does manage to get the better of his teammate, then he will really catch the eye of Ferrari, who seem quite happy with Leclerc and Sainz at the moment. But Schumacher has struggled in the first three races against Kevin Magnussen, who has scored 12 points to Mick’s 0.
The German driver needs to start scoring points and outperforming his teammate, or he might be stuck in terms of his progress in the sport. Let’s wait and see if he can manage this feat in 2022.
