Formula 1, as a sport, can have an all-encompassing effect on you. The season runs through the entire calendar year. There are races almost every alternate weekend. The action is thrilling and the stakes are high. What else do you need when you’ve got Formula 1, right? You’d imagine F1 drivers to be immersed in the sport with their whole lives revolving around it. That being said, it isn’t uncommon for drivers to have other sporting hobbies and passions. But when you’re an American, like Williams‘ Logan Sargeant, there’s only one other sporting giant that can capture your imagination like F1.

Sargeant is an America, through and through. Hence, it should not come as a surprise that he is a bona fide NFL fanboy. This season, however, he won’t be able to watch the coveted Super Bowl. Why, you ask? He’s got a date with the FW45! His first stint in Williams’ 2023 challenger is during a filming day on the 12th of February, which coincides with the Super Bowl.

This doesn’t mean that Sargeant won’t be following the blockbuster event closely. During the FW45 launch event, as per talksport.com, Sargeant explained his footballing roots. He said, “I’m Miami through and through and we haven’t won anything in a while, but I’m Miami Dolphins, Miami Heat, Florida Panthers.” But the big game is between the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs and Sargeant has made his pick!

“I can’t count out Patrick Mahomes. He’s so good so I’m going to have to say 27-24 Chiefs.”

Formula 1 is the dream of any young racing enthusiast. That being said, only a handful of them actually grow up to race at the pinnacle of motorsport. This reality and the magnitude of his own achievements in making it to F1 aren’t lost on the 22-year-old Fort Lauderdale resident.

In his mind, Sargeant is fixating on only one thing. In November 2022, he told Formula 1, “I feel like as long as I prepare the best I can physically and mentally, put my time in at the factory in Grove and do everything I possibly can to be the best driver I can be, I have to live with that. Hopefully, that is good enough to stay in F1 for a long time.”
