All eyes are on the Miami Grand Prix today. Formula 1 travels to the United States of America for the first time this season and it’s already a grand affair. With the race about to begin in less than an hour, the glitz and the glamour are all there at the Miami International Autodrome. However, amongst all the fanfare, Max Verstappen and his teammate, Sergio Perez were greeted by a very special American athlete.
The 2023 Super Bowl MVP, Patrick Mahomes was in attendance at the circuit. And while the full attention of the fans at the circuit and around the globe is on Verstappen who starts ninth and Perez who starts on pole, keen supporters of the sport spotted a very candid conversation between the NFL champion and the Red Bull drivers.

Mahomes, who delivered the iconic “Riders Up!” call at the 149th running of the Kentucky Derby was spotted having a candid chat with the two Red Bull drivers. As it turns out, the 27-year-old NFL superstar is a big fan of the Bulls.

In a video released by the official Instagram account of Red Bull, Mahomes was quoted as saying, “By the way, I am a huge fan of y’alls!” to both Perez and Verstappen. The Dutch lion’s teammate was then heard inviting Mahomes to Texas, to which he replied, “Text me baby, I like that!”

During a chaotic Miami GP Qualifying, the Dutch lion binned his first attempt to set a banker lap during Q3. Charles Leclerc then prompted a late red flag as he crashed into the barriers. This means that Verstappen will start P9 on the grid today.
While speaking to the media, Verstappen admitted, “It’s going to be difficult. I made it difficult for myself, so I have to accept that. [I’m aiming for a] Minimum P2,” as quoted by Sky Sports.
