Formula 1 is a sport that requires the entire team to work as one well-oiled machine. Often we’ve seen on paper that a team is a favorite to win, but internal dynamics on track have led to them squandering the wins. However, 2016 Formula 1 World Champion Nico Rosberg thinks otherwise, taking his rival Lewis Hamilton as an example.

According to Rosberg, in F1, a team can dominate even though the drivers don’t get along. He substantiated this by taking about a very personal experience. Rosberg remembered his time with Hamilton. He explains why teammates do not need to like each other to go on a win together.

While speaking to Sky Sports Rosberg explained, “I think maybe you remember Lewis and I weren’t exactly best friends and yet we were dominating so I think for a team it can still work even if the drivers don’t get on if they are super fast.”

It seems Alpine may have just gotten a blessing in disguise in the whole Oscar Piastri fiasco. Nico Rosberg spoke about his relationship with Lewis Hamilton and their exploits with Mercedes to contextualize a potential driver transfer to the French team.

According to Rosberg, Gasly and Ocon would be the perfect fit for the French outfit. In addition to this translating into an all-French line-up, Rosberg feels, “For me, for Alpine, Gasly is the perfect choice.”
