The Austrian Grand Prix race turned out to be much exciting compared to the previous outing at the Styrian GP. However, the credit doesn’t just go to the on-track actions, but also to the Dutch fans, supporting Max Verstappen, that swarmed to the F1 circuit.
The intensity was quite high, as the cheers were constantly heard throughout the race. Several fans even used the Orange smoke to show their support to the championship leader, and the celebrations were certainly unprecedented.
Aston Martin driver, Sebastian Vettel, managed to notice the number of Dutch fans that were present over the weekend at the Red Bull Ring. Hence, during an interview following the race, the German hilariously trolled the fans.

Speaking to the Dutch channel, Ziggo Sport, Vettel opened up about the thousands of ardent Verstappen fans, who watched the Austrian GP race from the stands.
“They are amazing. So the Netherlands now must be empty. Now is the time to make a robbery. Houses are empty. If you want to make a robbery, now is the time,” he said.

For the first time since the pandemic, F1 witnessed a full-house race event on Sunday, with an attendance of around 113,000 spectators. And it is safe to say that around 100,000 of them were amidst a sea of Orange.
It was a breath of fresh air for the entire F1 community having witnessed empty stands for over a season. What’s more, Verstappen’s dominance against the 7-time world champion, Lewis Hamilton, only fueled more excitement into the fans.

“It was insane to see all the fans here today. A great motivation. The last lap was orange all over the track,” Verstappen said in the post-race interview.
The interesting thing about the Red Bull Ring is that it isn’t even Verstappen’s home. The Netherlands is over 700 km away from the circuit, and even the distance didn’t keep the fans away.
