Max Verstappen is known by many names, like ‘the Dutch Lion’ and even ‘Max Max’. His killer instincts and aggression on track have earned him these accolades. However, as it turns out, he hasn’t engineered himself to be this way for the cut-throat business of Formula 1. He was always like this!

In an old interview with Ziggo Sport, Max Verstappen was shown a video of him when he was young. In the video, we can see Verstappen nurturing his love for racing while playing a Formula 1 game on his PlayStation.

Funnily enough, a young Max Verstappen was as combative and aggressive as the Verstappen we know now.

As he goes into the gravel trap in the game, Verstappen exclaims, “Ah now he slides into the gravel!” He then goes on and shouts, “Goddamm*t!”

This angry and expletive-ridden baby Verstappen rant sent the entire studio audience and Verstappen into raptures.

Verstappen may have been a fierce competitor from the moment he knew racing was his life. However, even though Verstappen is young, according to his teammate, the Dutch Lion has now transitioned into a man.

Daniel Ricciardo narrates the time when Max Verstappen grew from “young boy into a man”

Daniel Ricciardo and Max Verstappen were teammates from 2016 to 2018. Verstappen was only 17 when he joined Red Bull. This means that the Honey Badger has seen Verstappen grow from a rookie into the World Champion that he is today. A while back, Ricciardo recalled the time when he realized that Max Verstappen was no longer a young boy.

In an interview with Viaplay, Ricciardo said, “In 2018, I remember the first four or five races he had crashes and quite a lot of mistakes.”

However, Ricciardo went on to explain what made him realize that Verstappen was growing into a seasoned and mature professional. “He quickly found a way to fix that and mature a lot. I think in 2018 he made the biggest transition from young boy into man, with some off-track maturity.”
