Max Verstappen is a generational talent. However, that does not promise he has the potential to reach the absolute zenith. It is a strange thought, but it is more strange that it comes from none other than the Red Bull advisor, Helmut Marko.

Recently, he gave an interview and spoke about Verstappen’s potential retirement.

Max Verstappen is arguably in the best form of his career. Red Bull developing a world-beater in the form of their RB18 car helps too. Despite all that, according to Helmut Marko, we might not see Max Verstappen challenge Lewis Hamilton for the record number of title wins that he shares with Michael Schumacher.

Marko thinks this is the case in light of the fact that Verstappen does not care about how much Red Bull pays him and he can leave the sport at the end of his contract.

As quoted by Motorsport.com, Marko has said, “I doubt if we will see Max drive until he has broken all records.”

He explained, “He could make it, but he’s also the type of person who packs his things and leaves when he no longer feels like it. No matter how much you offer him, he won’t stay. And that could happen sooner than we all think.”
