Mercedes has been on Red Bull’s back about the dominance of the RB19. Toto Wolff and Lewis Hamilton don’t seem pleased by Red Bull and Max Verstappen’s dominance at all. While many may feel that it’s just Mercedes, most of the F1 fans aren’t really a fan of their dominance either. Amid all the accusations about their dominance, Max Verstappen overlooks the greater good to boast about his dominance. What did Verstappen say?

The Singapore GP was the first race of the season that was won by a non-Red Bull driver. And for the better, we got a glimpse of how close the field is once the Red Bulls are taken out of the equation. A four-way fight for the win until the last corner. Amid all this, Max Verstappen has come to boast his dominance as he advises that he doesn’t think about what’s good for F1 and just cares about being the best driver and team out on the track.

With the drivers in the paddock for the Japanese Grand Prix, according to @FastestPitStops’ tweet, Max Verstappen said, “I don’t think about what is good for F1, I don’t think it was necessarily bad, what was happening, we were just better than everyone else. If people can’t appreciate that, you are not a real fan, but this is how it goes.”

He then added, “This is why I was super relaxed about it [Losing the winning streak at Singapore]. We didn’t perform and other people did a better job than us and deserved to win. They shouldn’t win because people say it’s boring that we are winning.”

Max Verstappen explained how other teams shouldn’t win just because Red Bull is dominating but because they did a better job than Red Bull. Basically, what Max Verstappen is trying to imply is ‘May the best man/team win’. Let’s see what Verstappen had to say about his Singapore performance.

Despite suggesting that Red Bull wasn’t the best team in Singapore and that other teams did a better job than them, Max Verstappen advised that he would have fought with the front runners. But what’s the catch? Well, the Dutchman explained that the safety car played in the favor of other teams and if it would’ve been the other way around, he would’ve been right up there in the 4-way fight.

During the post-race interviews, according to Motorsport, Max Verstappen said, “Everything went against us as well in the race with the safety cars. So it was possibly the worst-case scenario, as I really think if the safety cars worked out a little bit more in our favor I would’ve been fighting with the guys [at the front]”
