Formula 1 favorites Mick Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel will be representing their country for the Race of Champions in 2022. A dynamic duo off the track, and spectacular drivers on the track, the pair will be one to watch out for. However, in the mix of national pride and excitement of racing with a friend, something was missing.
Before Mick, Vettel represented Germany with Michael Schumacher in the RoC. The two were friends during Schumacher’s time in F1, and Schumi was someone Vettel looked up to. Now as he and Mick participate in the RoC together for the second time, Vettel misses his original racing partner.
“It’s so sad and hurtful that Michael can’t be there to watch us. I wish I could tell him it’s time to step back and let Mick take over the steering wheel!”

Nonetheless, the four-time champion is eager to share the wheel with his protege and friend. “Now it’s great to share the track and Team Germany with Mick. I have to say it’s something very special for me.”
And with the German flags backing them, Vettel has his eyes on the prize. ” I look forward to spending time with Mick. This time we don’t want to be second but to win.”
Sebastian Vettel and Mick Schumacher share RoC thrill
The thrilling motorsports event will be held in Scandinavia early next year; and frankly, the track looks thrilling. Thus, the Champion of Champions and 6-time-nation-cup winner, Vettel, looks forward to the challenge. “It’s also going to be a lot of fun and that’s why I’m joining. Most of my memories of RoC are on that: how fun the race was and what a great time we had racing with Michael many times, both on and off the track.”

Further, his partner hopes to make the most of the race as well. Drawing from his first RoC, where he and Vettel finished second, Schumi Jr. thinks they might have a shot at victory. “We were pretty close to winning in Mexico two years ago, so we will try to win… We’re still doing what we love, which is racing.” (quotes translated via Google translate)
The German duo isn’t the only one hailing from the pinnacle of motorsports. The Finnish team has Formula 1 blood coursing through them as well. Team Finland will see Valtteri Bottas accompany double world champion Mika Hakkinen for the event.
