However, it wouldn’t have been possible without the help of the Austrian team. When Red Bull learned of Gasly’s desire, they helped him quit AlphaTauri, and pair with former “friend,” Esteban Ocon. People have been talking about this driver pairing for some time now and at the French team’s livery reveal, they possibly got a fun little glimpse of what the rest of the year is going to look like. In the event, Esteban Ocon was asked a question. But it was Gasly’s interrupting remark that sent the Twitter F1 fans into a spiral.

As you may know, Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly have been close companions for a long time. In fact, they have known one another since they were both 6 years old. Despite this, their relationship hasn’t been wonderful lately as they are both fiercely competitive. Knowing this, fans were extra excited to see the banter between the two drivers at the car launch. While Ocon was talking, Pierre interrupted him by bringing up his height, which further led to an uncomfortable but amusing exchange. When probed about his relationship with Gasly, Esteban Ocon responded, “We’ve known each other for quite a few years. Yeah. You know, since we are very little as, six years old. Yeah, we were driving go-kart together. Like that back then, obviously, I was going through the memories, you know, not too long ago. It’s, it’s gonna be super special.”

Ocon didn’t even finish his statement when Gasly interjected and said, “Slightly taller than what I remembered. I don’t know what you ate at the time but you’re just like.” To this, the 26-year-old said, “ Like I was already taller than you. I’ve grown up.”
