Sebastian Vettel drove Nigel Mansell’s iconic FW14B! This Williams’ car is special to the former world champion who became victorious with it in the year 1992. The German driver marked the 30th anniversary of the Britisher’s championship win and gave the Silverstone audience a wonderful time.
Dressed in blue, the driver enjoyed himself lapping the beautiful FW14B as its V10 Renault engine roared. Asides from the eventful British Grand Prix, this moment has also become a special part of history. Vettel, a history buff, always felt the need to keep history alive, and hence, it was a big reason he took out the machinery for this drive.

After making his round, the driver got out and looked thrilled. He immediately looked towards Mansell himself and shouted, “Unbelievable! I was shaking.” The duo then engaged in a heartfelt hug, where they muttered a few words to each other. Strikingly, Lewis Hamilton also got on track to congratulate the duo. Mansell, in fact, even raised his hand in admiration as the audience chanted the seven-time world champion’s name.

Strikingly, this might’ve been Vettel’s birthday gift to himself. However, fans would widely agree that his pre-race drive around Silverstone in that car was eventful for the entire audience. Notably, the four-time world champion used carbon-neutral fuel to drive the car (unlike those days).

Fans are hailing the British Grand Prix as one of the best races of this year. After an unfortunate crash that caused Red Flag on lap 1, several cars had to retire. Vettel, who was on the last grid, somehow managed to escape any impact from the crash, breaking just in time. After the DNFs, Vettel had an opportunity to really make way into points, and he did!
Post-race he said, “I think it was a great recovery obviously to score points. It’s very important for us you know the factories just across the road, lot of people here this weekend. So, big weekend for us, and at least we got some points. There’s still a lot of work to do but it was a good recovery, I’m happy…”
