During an interview with Mirror, Wolff confirmed talking to Verstappen Sr. and Max Verstappen, indicating there is some truth to the rumors of a move. “Max, Jos, and I have talked about it and everything has been pronounced. It will certainly be a big step, especially considering the heated rivalry that emerged following the 2021 season. Wolff, however, admitted his part in the rivalry, going on to applaud Verstappen’s masterful title wins. “Looking back on that whole year [2021], it is clear that I made some mistakes. In the way I dealt with some things. I cannot reverse that. If you look at Max’s last two years, there is no-one even close to him.”
For now, both Verstappen and Wolff remain focused on the challenge in Melbourne. Although Verstappen guns for victory, things in the Mercedes camp look disappointing. Fans of the team only hope to see a positive result emerge in the race.
