LIV golf is again the talk of the town, but this time, you would not have expected the reason. A few big names, including Michael Jordan, have recently been associated with the Saudi-backed circuit. However, thankfully, their big master plan went down the drain as it would have caused great chaos.

We know LIV for catching all the attention since it came into action. Many prominent names were supposed to be coming together to carry out the business of Greg Norman’s tour. They have been trying hard to up-scale the level of golf in the ports industry. LIV believes that they will bring transformation to golf. And hence, they were coming up with a master plan. 

What was the master plan for Michael Jordan?

According to the New York Times reports, the Saudi-backed circuit was planning to bring star names together and create a board for their business. The big names included NBA legend Michael Jordan. The list also indicated the name of the former Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice. However, from the business world, they wanted to add Ginni Rometty, Randall Stephenson, and Mark Parker. Who are they? One might wonder. Rometty was the former CEO at IBM, whereas Stephenson and Parker are former AT&T chairman and Nike executive chairman, respectively.

However, thankfully it did not go through, else would have affected one relationship drastically. Tiger Woods and Jordan have been good friends for a very long time. And when LIV came into the picture, the former number-one golfer was against the Saudi circuit. As the LIV golf was taking all the pro players from PGA, the American tour was nearing a decline. However, Woods has been loyal to the tour and has always taken a stand for the same.

If the plan had come into motion, it would have hampered the friendship between Woods and Jordan. However, Woods has had his share of non-acceptance of the tour. The pro golfer spoke about the leadership of LIV golf and called out the CEO in public. He asked Greg Norman to lose his job. While this was still in the air, LIV announced its 2023 schedule partly. Next season, 12 teams and 48 individuals will compete for the total prize money of $405 million.
