The Instagram post by the PIF-funded circuit showcases a snap of Rahm posing in a black “Jacket.” Is that all? No, not even close, as the picture of the Spanish athlete was coupled with a tweet from their X handle, asking the question, “Which player puts on the LIV Golf Letterman Jacket next?”

Moreover, many of its followers came forward to throw in hints about the next entry to the squad, including the likes of Rory McIlroy and Min Woo Lee! Nothing shy of a tease for the newest addition to the Middle Eastern circuit and the 2-time major winner’s team, the update did go ahead and shake the LIV Golf fandom.

Well, the Instagram update comes at a time when the eleven-time PGA Tour champ missed out on the Player of the Year Award despite boasting four victories on the men’s circuit, including a major win. Although the Spanish golfer won two more events than the current No.1, his defection to the rival league messed up his chances of being voted as the 2022-23 winner of the Jack Nicklaus Award.

Besides, the tease can be seen as an attempt to lighten up the hard blow received by the Spaniard. Nevertheless, the post went ahead to garner a huge number of responses—something even the Saudi-backed league might not have imagined.

The internet goes crazy over the new addition to Rahm’s team

Reactions from the fans ranged from savage, albeit hilarious ones taking a jab at McIlroy to those of serious recommendations to the Saudi-backed league. Anyhow, the followers did have a lot to say regarding the same. Let’s take a quick look at some of them.

The 4-time major winner and Rahm’s Ryder Cup teammate had earlier expressed his strong stance on playing with the golfer in the upcoming Bethpage edition of the prestigious event. Well, the unexpected change in the stance against LIV Golf pros coupled with his respect for the 29-year-old led to many of the netizens pointing out his name as the next possible addition: “Rory” and “McIlroy”

Although being away from the game of golf since 2012 owing to an injury, it seems Anthony Kim still has a lot of fans left in the sport. The three-time PGA Tour champ’s name was taken in the comments as a fan responded, “GIVE US ANTHONY KIM,” in an all-caps screaming manner no less!

Lee had an amazing year in 2023. A win at the Fortinet Australian PGA Tour Championship and a T3 finish at the Australian Open did propel him to the top of the list of favorite golfers for many in the community. Well, it makes sense when someone comments, “If I had a team, I’d be trying to recruit Min Woo Lee.”

Viktor Hovland had earlier expressed his desire to stay with the PGA Tour in 2024. However, many players still seem to wish to see him along with another professional on the Middle Eastern circuit, as one fan went ahead to comment, “Hovland and Hatton” in response to the post.

I want to play against the best,” said Ludvig Aberg when asked about a potential move to LIV Golf. Well, don’t get him wrong, since what he expressed was his desire to stay on the PGA Tour. Nevertheless, a follower did go ahead to point out what would happen if he were to join the Saudi-backed league: “Aberg would be a fatal blow to the PGA”

The Northern Irishman has been on the news lately owing to his comments supporting the decisions made by the LIV Golf professionals. Following the same, coupled with the post, Flushing It Golf couldn’t help but hilariously point out how “The timing of this post is A+.” Well, if you think it stopped there, then you’re sorely wrong, as another fan went ahead to humorously mention how “Rory is probably already in deep discussions with LIV.”
