One must read the contract before signing it, but that is not the case for Kevin Na. After a lively player meeting in Tucson, the upstart tour’s business model continues to evolve. And in the evolution journey, fresh revelations have astonished people. However, in coverage by Alan Shipnuck, Na offered some needed perspective when he described the discord as “first-world problems.” The LIV Golf contract is the basis, and the revelations are mind-blowing.

Is Kevin Na carefree about his LIV Golf contract?

Kevin Na’s teammate, Danny Lee, grabbed the individual victory worth $4 million. It was a million more than the first-place team split. However, he had no such intention to win. He said, “Honestly, I wasn’t even looking at the individual scores all day. I was only asking how our team is doing. It’s the reason why [Ironheads captain Kevin Na] called me and why I wanted to come over here, to win as a team. It’s better for me mentally, because I can’t ever give up on one shot out here because the team is watching.”

Na was not shocked about his team member’s victory. Any proposed changes did not bother Na about how the money gets doled out. He revealed he’s not even sure what is specified in his contract. “It’s a long contract!” he said, and laughter followed. However, he added, “I’ll have to ask my agent.” In the perfect conclusion to this incident in professional golf, Na adds, “There is a s***-ton of money out here, and I already got a s**t-ton. If you play well, you’re gonna win a s**t-ton more. I’m not worrying about the details.”

They will pay only the top three teams at each tournament this year. It is not good news for struggling squads like the Majesticks GC and the Cleeks GC, as they could easily be left empty-handed at year’s end. However, the players meeting at the Ritz introduced the idea of spreading the $5 million team purse to the top five finishers. This idea had been thought through carefully during a captain-only meeting last month at LIV Mayakoba.

The team is the focus this year for LIV Golf

Earlier, Bubba Watson revealed that playing on the team is the most important aspect of joining LIV Golf. Other teams like HY Flyers GC and Smash GC are working on team building. However, Cameron Smith has now put forward his views and is sailing on the same ship. He said, “I think we need to go harder with the team thing. I would be in favor of giving more of the purse to the teams, absolutely. [The captains] have a discussion every couple of weeks.”
