For the second year in a row, Bryson DeChambeau has failed to win the PGA Championship despite getting close to the top. He finished second on both occasions in the major event. In fact, the 31-year-old has had four top-4s in his last six attempts in the event. He pushed hard and tried his best, but that wasn’t enough to get him the Wanamaker Trophy at Quail Hollow this evening. And judging by his statement after the end of the tournament, DeChambeau realizes that things just didn’t go his way in the 2025 PGA Championship.
In the Press Conference following the final round, the Crushers GC captain said, “It seemed like it didn’t go my way all week, and I’m pretty disappointed. But this is brewing a fire in my stomach, and it’s gonna make me want to fight harder and get after the US Open again this year.”
Striding off the 15th green on Saturday after taking the outright lead in the PGA Championship, DeChambeau had a certain aura of confidence around him, heading into the final day. But as fate or the Green Mile would have it, his lead was gone. Going into the final round, he had played for 16-18 in 2 over par, matching his worst Green Mile showing in three previous tournaments here. With that, he finished the tournament 6-under 278.

Failing to win at ANGC and Quail Hollow must have been quite frustrating for DeChambeau. But as he stated, he is still motivated to go to Oakmont Country Club and overcome every threat to his title defence.
As shared by Flushing It on X, “Bryson DeChambeau contended for another major and despite nothing really going his way, will finish in the top 6 for the 5th time in his last 6 major starts.” DeChambeau finished at T6 in the Masters, solo 2nd in the PGA Championship, won the U.S. Open, and missed the cut at the Open Championship last year. This season, the LIV golfer has had a T5 finish at ANGC and a runner-up at Quail Hollow.
Speaking specifically about his T2 finish just a few minutes ago, DeChambeau also said, “Always proud to top five in a major. I feel like I’m playing good when I’m doing that, but I mean, it’s disappointing not to get the job done because that’s what I came here to do.” He has faced too many last-round jitters recently. Apart from the PGA Championship and the Masters, the 2-time major winner has also struggled in LIV Golf events. DeChambeau has been able to take advantage of a penultimate round lead to win an event in the PIF-funded promotion only once in his last 3 attempts. The LIV Golf Korea 2025 win is his only saving grace recently.

Bryson DeChambeau’s next big challenge
Fortunately, LIV Golf has been a safe haven for Bryson DeChambeau. He walked into Quail Hollow after an excellent win in Korea. The confidence boost from a win would have been vital for his push to second place in the 2025 PGA Championship. DeChambeau will have another shot at gaining some momentum before his 2025 U.S. Open title defence. LIV Golf will take him to Virginia for an intense battle with 53 other golfers on the Tour.
This will be the first time an LIV Golf event will be played at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Club. While DeChambeau did find success in LIV Golf’s debut in Korea, it will be interesting to see if he can gain the confidence to grab another big win going into his U.S. Open title defence. The tournament will be played a week before Bryson DeChambeau’s next major assignment. It will be interesting to see what the 31-year-old can do 250 miles away from Oakmont Country Club from June 6-8, 2025.
