Only a couple of days ago, the PGA Tour released a strong statement against LIV Golf. With most of the season concluded and players preparing for the 2026 season, they made a critical announcement for everyone for next season. They said any player who participates in the LIV Golf Promotions Event will face disciplinary actions and/or a suspension if they are associated with the PGA Tour, Korn Ferry Tour, or Champions Tour. The DP World Tour stated that they won’t follow the same route.

In a statement released by Josh Lees from Bunkered, they confirmed that both the DP World Tour & the HotelPlanner Tour don’t have any events scheduled in the week of the LIV Golf Promotions Event. Hence, the players from Europe are free to participate in the tournament, as long as they are not aligned with the PGA Tour. That would be music to the ears of Scott O’Neil, who recently changed the format to 72-holes to try and convince OWGR to sanction the LIV Golf events.

With the minimum qualifying players from the Promotions Event increased to two, this will present as a great opportunity for anyone participating in the tournament. Moreover, even those who make it into the top 10 without getting a LIV Golf contract will be able to gain access to the International Series.
