For Jon Rahm, the PGA Championship could be another opportunity to chase a major title. With 35 players within six shots of Jhonattan Vegas’ 8-under lead, Rahm feels optimistic after shooting back-to-back rounds of 1-under 70. A happy Rahm couldn’t help but exclaim, “I think I’m in good position.” However, rather than his scores, Rahm’s unintended mistakes have become the real crowd-pleasers at the PGA Championship.

Jon Rahm faced a bit of bad luck on Saturday afternoon, creating quite the moment for a fan near the 11th green at Quail Hollow Club. During the third round of the PGA Championship, Rahm’s approach shot at the par-4 veered wildly to the left of the green. However, instead of just landing in the thick rough, his ball zoomed straight for a fan, hitting him right on the head! The fan, who crouched down trying to dodge the ball, received quite the surprise as the ball then ricocheted over to the other side of the green, leaving the CBS broadcast crew utterly stunned by the whole scene.

Fortunately, it was unintentional. As soon as Rahm realized what his shot had done, he went over to the fan to check on him, giving him a hug and a signed ball as an apology and a nice gesture. Luckily, the fan looked to be just fine, and everything turned out well! After their interaction, Rahm had to chip back onto the green and ended up two-putting for a bogey, which brought his score to 4-over.

However, intentional or not, this isn’t the first time Jon Rahm has faced such an incident. At the 2023 Open Championship at Royal Liverpool, Rahm’s tee shot on the 12th hole struck a fan in the head before bouncing into a bunker during the opening round. He checked on the fan, who was conscious but dazed, and offered him a signed glove while medics tended to him. The latest incident has, however, inspired varied reactions.

Golf fans are cracking jokes over Jon Rahm’s errant moment

Considering the situation, No Laying Up‘s official account couldn’t help but suggest a fun solution to the problem: That dude that just got domed by Rahm needs to shake the PIF down for about $50 million.” Jon Rahm joined LIV Golf in 2023 for a reported $300 million (and possibly even more), so it’s pretty clear that both PIF and Rahm can handle that much for this “major” inconvenience! Additionally, reports indicate that Rahm’s net worth in the 2025 season exceeds $200 million! That’s a lot of money.

Barstool Sports‘ Liam Blutman said, Rahm just murdered somebody”  and another fan said, Rham got lucky that he didn’t kill the guy and his ball ended up in a way better place.” Well, the fan at the current PGA Championship seems to be doing quite well despite the hit; however, the fan from the 2018 PGA Championship had a more serious association with Rahm’s errant shot.

At the 2018 PGA Championship, the Spaniard sent a drive off Bellerive’s par-4 10th, his first hole in the second round, that struck a fan’s head and ricocheted into the right intermediate rough. The fan left with medics, and Rahm checked on him before they took him away, even giving him a signed glove. However, the fan, much like the fan from this PGA, wished him good luck for the rest of the round. Rahm went on to score a T4 finish. Do what you will with that information!

The Athletic‘s Gabby Herzig said, Rahm just absolutely nailed a fan in the head/neck on the fly and it appears that he’s sitting up and smiling. That is going to leave a bump. Ball literally ricocheted to the other side of the green.” Unfortunately for Jon Rahm, he has a long history of accidentally hitting fans. Another incident happened at the 2022 API when Rahm began his second round two over par after five holes. As he approached the par-3 sixth hole with an iron, many spectators gathered to watch. Unfortunately, he hit an errant tee shot that veered into the crowd, injuring a man. While it wasn’t clear where the ball struck, the man lay down, clearly in pain.

Lastly, a fan suggested one business move for the injured fan by saying, At least he got a signed glove to go with the brain damage/ concussion! He can sell that on eBay for like $24!” However, considering Rahm’s popularity, it may sell for even more!
