John Daly’s old pal mentions the golf ace on his birthday

Daly is one of the oldest and most respected players on the PGA Tour. Besides being an immensely talented golfer, fans love the player for his utter honesty and larger-than-life attitude. Moreover, his fearless confessions and statements about everything going on in the golf world have earned him a separate fan base. And not only golf enthusiasts, but even his fellow players love the man for his undying spirit for the game.

The golf underdog turned 57 today and is currently getting ready for teeing it up at the Insperity Invitational at The Woodlands Country Club – Tournament Course. And while he was probably practicing his golf swings, a fellow golfer and Daly’s old friend decided to make a special mention of him on camera. And it was none other than 2002 Ryder Cup fame and 4x European Tour champion, Paul McGinley.

In a recent video shared by the ‘PGA Tour Champions’ on Instagram, the Irish pro named John Daly when asked to draft No. 1 in the Champions Tour Football Draft. Here’s what he said: “JD, John Daly will be a choice. First of all, he’s a linebacker. But secondly, head of entertainment, I think he’d create a good vibe in the dressing room. Let’s put it that way!”

When is John Daly retiring from professional golf?

For most golfers, one heavy injury is enough for them to announce their retirement from the sport. However, after suffering several injuries, and even battling cancer on the side, Daly appears to be an entirely different breed. With no plans of retiring anytime soon, the 57-year-old continues to play on the PGA Tour. For those who don’t know, the golf star even wanted to be part of the LIV Golf Invitational. In fact, he admitted to having begged Greg Norman to let him be a part of the circuit, only to be denied later!
