Under the beautiful sky at The Renaissance Club, Fleetwood made time to interact with his young fans, signing autographs on their caps and joyously posing for pictures with them. During one of these encounters, a teenage fan asked Fleetwood if he knew Rick Shiels, a popular golf YouTuber. He wittingly replied with a smile, “I do know Rick Shiels.” He’s my uncle,” quickly said the boy to which the golfer said: “Really? I feel sorry for you.”

This lighthearted banter grabbed the attention of the golf community, and soon the story spread like wildfire when PGA shared it on Instagram. Rick Shiels, a popular YouTuber known for his insightful reviews and podcasts related to golf, responded to Fleetwood’s funny comment, stating, “I’m not that fan’s uncle.” The humorous comeback was met with laughter and delight from golf fans in the comment section.

While another young fan asked the golfer, “Can you do BeReal with us?” Tommy was initially hesitant. The boy continued, “Oh, Come on, You are my inspiration. I love you so much.”  The 32-year-old Englishman then obliged the fan and took the phone and captured his photo on BeReal, a Gen Z photo-sharing app. One of the golf fans commented, “Great player but better human being.” One was bewildered and felt a regular photo would have been cooler.

The Genesis Scottish Open is currently in progress. Golfers will not only be competing for an alluring  $9,000,000 payout but their performance can also help them qualify for the year’s last major, the Open Championship which starts next week. So there is plenty at stake.
