The PGA Tour considers the LIV Golf as their biggest professional rival. The American golf organization has banned its players from joining the league, and the officials have banned the players who have already joined LIV Golf from PGA events. Tour veteran John Daly had his opinions on the entire row.

He opened up about the PGA Tour vs LIV Golf controversy during an interview with OutKick. “Honestly, I have just been staying out of it,” the 56-year-old said. “I’m too old to even worry about it. They’re (LIV Golf) not going to call me and want it,” he added.

Daly believes that there is no problem with golfers considering playing in the LIV Golf events. “I’m not against the LIV, and I’m not against what the Tour’s doing,” he stated.

John Daly wants the PGA Tour and LIV Golf to work together 

“I just wish they would come together and just do it together,” Daly said. He explained that the former world no. 1 golfer and the LIV Golf CEO, Greg Norman, came up with the World Golf Championship event, and it turned out to be a great event.

Norman came up with the idea of a World Golf Tour in 1994 with eight events, a $3 million purse, with the world’s top 30 players playing in it. Like LIV Golf Series, everyone thought it would be a threat to the PGA Tour. 

However, later in 1996, the PGA Tour allied with the European, Australasian, Japanese, and South African tours to form the International Federation of PGA Tours. The Federation then announced the World Golf Championships, a series of international events similar to Norman’s idea.

“I personally wish they would come together, and work it out,” the 2-time major champion stayed with his opinion. Additionally, he added, “You just need to stop bickering. Let’s play golf. Have a good time.”

Will Daly ever consider joining the league? 

“I’m going to stay on the PGA Tour,” Daly stated. “I love the guys on the Champions Tour.”

John Daly has been playing in the Tour for more than 30 years. He has won five tournaments on the PGA, including 2 majors. Notably, he now plays on the American senior Tour, the PGA Tour Champions. He has won once on it as well. And the golfer doesn’t intend to switch leagues now.
