If you think only Kim Kardashian’s waist-less dress caught attention at the Met Gala, you need to rethink. Nelly Korda leaped the entertainment world’s red carpet, representing Women’s golf as the first LPGA star at the Met Gala this year. As the dress code asked for “The Garden of Time,” Korda served with one of the brightest red flowers entwined in the richest green. Don’t you want to know more about the designer and why Korda chose to slip into Oscar de la Renta’s red dress?

The world lost Oscar de la Renta exactly a decade ago, yet his timeless designs still stun everyone. Nelly Korda, who is planning to become the six-consecutive LPGA winner on the greens, did not disappoint on the red carpet as she trod on for the first time in his design. She shared her experience in the star-studded evening right before her Cognizant Founders Cup Tour.

Nelly Korda switched her outfit at the last minute

While celebrities spend months and several hundred hours deciding on their Met Gala look, the Golf queen got her heart on another dress at the last moment. Yes, you heard it right. Korda was given several dress options, and only 20 minutes before she started getting dressed, her eyes caught the beautiful red dress she was seen with later in the evening. Initially, she chose a long-sleeved gown, but she decided to choose something out of her usual comfort clothing. And Oscar de la Renta’s archive gave her just the opportunity.

She resolved to change her entire look and go for Oscar de la Renta’s red dress, which instantly dazzled her. She shared her initial reaction with ASAP Sports, “I saw this amazing red dress and I just changed my entire look probably 20 minutes before I started to get ready. Switched it up on everyone.”

Korda also mentioned how she felt going outside her comfort zone from her regular golf wear- which means a visor on her at all times. She explained how that is what she feels she has always been. Regardless, wearing an Oscar de la Renta on the red carpet was a neat decision from her side. She confessed, “It was really, really neat to step outside of my comfort zone and do something like that. That was my first time ever walking a red carpet and went out with a bang. I think it’s just downhill from here.”

However, would it be the downfall for Korda, given how she might become the first female golfer with 6-LPGA wins? She withdrew from the JM Eagle LA Championship at Wilshire Country Club in Southern California this April with much exhaustion from back-back wins. However, she was seen having a great time off from the course while she enjoyed seeing her favorite stars on the same red carpet.

Nelly Korda’s absolute fangirl moment

When asked about her Met Gala experience, Korda also shared the moment when she first saw Shakira. “I saw Shakira and I just love Shakira. She’s so beautiful. Then Jaden Smith was really, really nice. He was the first person to say hello to me and introduce himself.” She later claimed that everyone with their dresses looked phenomenal. Korda said, “The whole evening was just a dream come true.”

Nelly Korda was in absolute disbelief at seeing herself sharing the same red carpet with so many celebrities. She revealed, “You’re standing in line ready to get on the carpet and you’re like seeing all these people you usually watch in TV shows or movies and they’re like famous singers and you’re starstruck the entire time.” Nelly Korda enjoyed a relaxing yet exciting time at the Met Gala. It might well help her be fierce on the course for this Cognizant Founders Cup.
