One of the most anticipated fixtures on the golf calendar, The Match, never fails to impress the golf community. Since its inception during the pandemic, it has seen much hype as competitors, which also include non-professional golfers, take on each other on the course. The event that took place this year in June saw NBA’s biggest stars, including Stephen Curry, take on big names from the NFL in Wynn, Las Vegas.

Taking part in this hype is none other than Golf queen Paige Spiranac. The golf queen, known for her dazzling presence on social media, had a few things to say about the upcoming event, including how she wished to see LPGA star Nelly Korda embarrass the NBA star. Spiranac, known for her beauty and skills on the golf course, shared her thoughts on the much-hyped-up event. Fed up with just NFL and NBA players playing against each other in the event, the social media influencer opened up about her dream of seeing LPGA players take part in ‘The Match’.

In an interview with the Up & Adams Show, she expressed her desire to see some women compete in the event against the men players. “Give me Jessica Korda, Give me Nelly Korda, and then you can throw in a Steph Curry and an Aaron Rodgers but I think like the battle of the sexes or… a combined team… that is what I wanna see,” said Spiranac.

She went on to say, “I think people would be blown away by how good these girls are on LPGA Tour, it is mindblowing.”  Further commenting on their skill, she talked about how straight and far they hit the shots, the amazing putts they make, and how their overall technique would “absolutely embarrass the boys”.

The faith that the model has in the LPGA players is not an exaggeration since the golf world has seen much progress in women’s sports in the last few years. Moreover, the LPGA Tour has managed to bring in a much-unprecedented base of fans to the sport and they owe it all to the women golfers on the course and their impressive techniques.

Golf Week in a recent news report revealed a viewership increase for the women’s game. LPGA broadcasts averaged more than 600,000 viewers in July over different formats. This has made July become the most-watched month ever. The news symbolizes the recognition of women on the course as the golfers start to get the recognition they deserve.

Looking back at the increase, one can’t help but mention US Women’s Open 2023 that took place in Pebble Beach. The tournament marked the push in viewership in women’s golf this year averaging 895,000 viewers, a staggering increase of 118 percent from 2022. Moreover, the final round which saw Allisen Corpuz take home the win, averaged 1.58 million viewers peaking at 2.2 million from 8.15-8.30 pm.
