The golfing community has missed Tiger Woods immensely these past few months. However, though he has been absent from the course for almost the entire 2022–2023 season, it seems like he’s not as much out of the loop as one would expect!

As per Woods, TGL partner, and close friend Rory McIlroy, the golf legend has been watching “everything” and is very much in loop with all that’s happening in the golf world. Woods’ fans and fellow golfers last witnessed him on the course playing competitive golf during the Masters in Augusta. The golfer unfortunately withdrew from the tournament and has sat out of every event since then. Despite his absence from the course, the golfer played a crucial role in the sport from the outside and was appointed as the final player director on the PGA Tour policy board.

The five-time major champion was working on his new league as well, alongside Rory McIlroy, who is now applauding Woods. The 82-time PGAT winner’s Twitter fan page, TWLEGION, posted a video of the Irish golfer saying kind words about him. The host in the video asked McIlroy about the relationship he shares with the golfing great and if he plays any mentorship role in his life.

The Northern Irishman said that he speaks to Woods every other day and referred to him as a “great resource.” The 4X major champion said if there is anything he needs to ask the legend, he does so. McIlroy hinted that TW probably only shares those tips with his 14-year-old son and Justin Thomas, whom he regards as his brother: “He’s showing me some things that I don’t know if he’s showing anyone else but Charlie. Maybe JT as well.”

McIlroy jokingly said that Woods is the “biggest golf nerd” that he has ever come across. The Irish star said that Woods knows everything, and he “watches everything” as well. McIlroy commented on the golf great’s passion for the game and said that he likes to “master his craft.”

The former number 1 golfer was in complete awe of his TGL co-partner, the league that is now so close to getting its 5th and 6th sponsors after finding the fourth one.

When the merger between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf was announced, it created a lot of chatter around the future of the TGL. Some even questioned whether or not the league would continue its operations and go on as per its schedule. All of the confusion around the speculations was cleared up, and the league has gone on to find three new sponsors since then.

The most recent sponsor that the new format league has acquired is Steve Cohen, worth $17.5 billion, as a sponsor for its New York team. The NY team does not have a name as of now. This sponsorship is also Cohen’s biggest investment in the golf industry yet. With this news, four out of the six teams in TGL now have owners.
