PIF may have suffered losses from LIV Golf, but its investment in women’s golf has been quite profitable. Over the last few years, the Public Investment Fund, led by Yasir Othman Al-Rumayyan, has hosted quite a few events collaborating with the Ladies European Tour. That has attracted many big names, including Lottie Woad & Charley Hull. And from 2026 onwards, they plan to expand their reach in women’s golf by partnering with the LPGA Tour to attract top stars like Nelly Korda & Co.

As reported by Meg Adkins of Fried Egg Golf, “PIF money is now officially part of the LPGA. Shadow Creek remains on the schedule. No match play and a jumbo $4 million purse.” She responded to a tweet by the LPGA Tour’s official X handle that confirmed that the event will be called the Aramco Championship. It will be co-sanctioned by the LPGA Tour and the LET and will be played at Shadow Creek in Las Vegas. The tournament will be contested for $4 million in partnership with Golf Saudi.

This comes as a huge surprise, considering all the reports of the PIF already losing money on LIV Golf. In the last four years, they had already suffered $1.4 billion worth of losses. However, experts did report that despite the failures of LIV Golf, women’s golf has been a success story under the PIF. And that explains why Yasir Al-Rumayyan & Co. continue to invest in projects that might involve bigger stars, such as Nelly Korda.

How will Nelly Korda & Co. benefit from the involvement of PIF in the LPGA Tour?

The LPGA Tour has lost a couple of sponsorship deals in 2025. Back in January 2025, Mollie Marcoux Samaan revealed that they had to cancel the Fir Hills Seri Pak Championship. It occurred because the sponsors failed to make timely payments. The 2025 Founders Cup also didn’t have a sponsor this season. Cognizant had stepped down from backing the event.

However, the LPGA Tour confirmed that Fortinet will be the new sponsor for the Founders Cup from 2026. The CME Group also extended its contract to host the season-ending event for a few more years. Now, with the PIF’s collaboration, the LPGA Tour will certainly see a lot more growth. It will encourage stars to compete in more events and have longer careers. And with the big $4 million purse on American soil, Nelly Korda & Co. would be eager to play in the Aramco Championship.
