Considering the forecast, the opening ceremony has been rescheduled for Wednesday, and the pairing, which was initially scheduled to be announced on Thursday, has been adjusted accordingly.

Sharing the updated, Brentley Romine shared it on X. He wrote, “U.S. Captain Keegan Bradley and European Captain Luke Donald will announce Friday morning’s pairings as planned at 4 p.m. Thursday at a location to be determined.”

The pairings for Friday’s opening matches will be announced on the same day at 4:00 ET. According to the forecast, storms are predicted to hit Bethpage Black and might affect the play. Considering the 53% chance of thunderstorms and 88% chance of rain, the authorities have taken the step to reschedule it.
This will be the first time the Ryder Cup ceremony is rescheduled. But interestingly, it is not the first time that a tournament has been postponed or suspended at Bethpage Black.

Back in 2009, the opening round of the US Open was suspended due to heavy rain. Sharing the update, USGA wrote, “The volume of rain falling was outpacing our ability to squeegee the greens.” Furthermore, the organisers reported that the greens became unplayable, and the play was suspended for the day.

After the Thursday weather forecast, it is essential to check whether the weather conditions will improve later in the week. Fortunately, the chances of rain will decrease as the tournament progresses, but the worry for players will still be there.

For Friday, September 26, the chance of rain will drop to 55%, and the chance of thunderstorms will be minimal at 11%. However, the wind and wind gusts will be a concern for players, as the wind will be blowing at 5.5 mph, while the gusts can be expected to reach 18 mph.
But after that, the conditions will improve as the chance of rain will drop to 25% and the wind will be at 3.7 mph. Even on the deciding day, the wind will blow at the same speed with a 0% chance of rain, which is an excellent sign for both the fans and the players.
