The golf world has high expectations from Scottie Scheffler after what we all have witnessed in 2024. The seven victories and the PGA Tour Player of the Year award made him a topic of comparison with Tiger Woods. The GOAT has also recorded a similar feat in 2007. However, even before the beginning of the 2025 season, all hopes went to drain after the sad news of his delay in starting the 2025 schedule due to injury.

Well, even though he recovered with the injury swiftly, his performance did not see the same recovery. He started off the 2025 schedule at AT&T Pebble Beach where he was placed T9. The performance even went downwards at the WM Phoenix Open, as he found himself at T25. However, he showed signs of a comeback in the next, which was the Genesis Invitational, but the subpar third round made it difficult for him to recover, resulting in a T3 finish.

With the ongoing form of the golfer, it was a concern for him as well. He shared his thoughts about it after the Genesis Invitational performance. During the press conference, he said, “I think I feel pretty bad about where I’m at.” The disappointment-filled statement left the world with more speculation after the golfer. But the World No. 1 after a two-week break has adopted a new hopeful way, which might worry fellow golfers.

After the break, Scheffler shared about his current game in the pre-tournament press conference of the Arnold Palmer Invitational. When he was asked, “Do you feel like you’re a little bit behind still where you would like to be with your game for this year because of the injury, or do you feel like you’re about at the caught-up-where-you-want-to-be stage?”

The 2024 7-title winner said, “I would say that I feel caught up. It was a really nice last couple of weeks at home to get ready for this week.” Despite having the ups and downs in the performance, the break has helped Scheffler with getting back to the course with hopes of hitting the right shots. Even he pointed out how after the injury, a break after playing a few weeks helped him get back to the routine and be prepared for the upcoming signature event.

The positive sign from Scheffler is a great joyful moment for fans, but a worrisome moment for the competitors. Notably, even in 2024, the winning streak for the golfer started off after the victory at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. Well, away from his analysis and confidence after the break, analysts have also suggested a few takeaways from his performance.

Johnson Wagner’s crucial suggestion for Scottie Scheffler

Johnson Wagner, who is a professional golfer turned analyst, has known the game inside out. And recently he joined as a guest at the 5 clubs to share the insight, where he was asked about the missing piece for the performance of Scheffler. Sharing about that, he said, “He [Scottie Scheffler] showed flashes of a number player in the world from last year, total dominance.” However, the third round was a concern, which he pointed out further. Scheffler in the third round missed some crucial shots which resulted in bogeys and slipping down the leaderboard. The final score in the third round was 76.

Considering the good and bad combination displayed by the golfer, Wagner suggested to “get rid of the pulls, put that ball in the play like we’re used to seeing.” The long iron shots were a miss for Scheffler, which turned out to be close to the bunker, adding positives on the scorecard. But Wagner seemed hopeful with the week off as he shared, “His good is still good, just need those misses tightened up.” The result of the comeback after the third round mishap is proof of the good. Scheffler did try to redeem with 8 birdies in the final round at the Genesis, but the score difference was still far.

Now with the history of winning streak and hopeful statements of the world no.1. Will he be able to repeat history? What are your thoughts on it? Let us know in the comments below.
