The biggest part of the Wesley Bryan and PGA Tour controversy was this question: What was the point of suspending Wesley Bryan? Reports indicate that the PGA Tour placed Bryan on probation the day after LIV Golf’s The Duels event was announced and officially suspended him the following day after the video aired. While Bryan acknowledged the Tour, stating, “For the last eight or nine years, the opportunities have been amazing,” he also expressed no regrets about participating in “one of the most powerful videos in YouTube golf.” The result? Bad blood between the two.

Given the PGA Tour’s lack of response and his uncertain future in the U.S. circuit amid his ongoing appeal against the Tour ban, the American has made another daring move—he is participating in the upcoming “The Duels.” Yes, you read that right. According to the latest announcement from LIV Golf, the Dallas event will feature the Bryan Brothers back on the LIV Golf schedule. Of course, that also means revisiting the old conversation.
In a recent video on Bryan Bros TV, Wesley Bryan played a fun match with Carson Young, but later criticized the PGA Tour’s suspension related to his friendship with Young. “Carson’s like, literally, one of my best of buds in the entire world, and it’s, we just don’t get to spend that much time together anymore. We used to spend, we used to be able to spend a lot of time together. It is unfortunate that I chose Grant Horvat over Carson Young. I know it’s a bad look. Just know that, that would, like, in real life, that’s not the case.
“Just professionally, that just kind of was the case for, I don’t know, like, four to six hours. And it turns out, it’s, it’s that four to six hours could potentially have cost me a year. Well, I mean, it actually is a year suspension, but we’re appealing it right now, and I’ll be back.”
This isn’t the first time Wesley Bryan has addressed this. In April, he said, “It’s been a difficult few weeks for us. It’s been an emotional roller coaster for sure for everybody in this cart.” So, why did the brothers participate in a LIV event despite warnings? They had to jump at that opportunity because all they wanted to do as the Bryan Bros was merge professional and YouTube golf, and this was a dream opportunity since they entered the YouTube golf scene. Growing their brand is crucial, especially with their significant YouTube reach of 578k followers.
Wesley Bryan has been vocal about his friendship with Carson Young. At the 2024 Butterfield Bermuda Championship, he said, “Through the YouTube stuff, I get to spend a lot more time with George, hang out, travel the world, and play golf with him and some of our really good buds, so that side has been a lot of fun.” He noted that he has built close friendships on the Tour, especially after years of turnover. However, amidst the ongoing feud with the Tour, one insider believes Bryan may make another LIV Golf move.

Wesley Bryan seems increasingly likely to join LIV Golf, especially after recent comments from Dan Rapaport. Bryan, a PGA Tour winner known for his engaging content, faced suspension from the PGA Tour for participating in LIV’s “The Duels.” This situation, combined with his past performances and popularity, positions him as a strong candidate for LIV.
Rapaport stated, “I kind of feel like Wesley Bryan… they’re going to give him a spot on LIV next year. It just makes too much sense.” He emphasized that Bryan’s passion for both golf and content creation aligns perfectly with LIV’s approach, which allows players to film and share their experiences. “If he goes to LIV, he knows what his schedule is. It’s 14 events, they’ll let him film whatever he wants,” Rapaport added, highlighting the benefits of a more predictable schedule and creative freedom.

Additionally, Bryan’s status as a former RBC Heritage winner and his large following make him a valuable addition for LIV Golf. Rapaport also pointed out that signing Bryan would not only boost the league’s visibility but also serve as a strategic move against the PGA Tour: “It’s also a narrative f— you from LIV Golf – ‘the PGA Tour has this unicorn of the sport who’s half tour player, half content creator, we’re going to take him.’” As LIV struggles to attract a strong lineup of players who can capture viewer interest, signing someone like Bryan could provide a significant advantage. His ability to connect with fans and generate excitement around events could greatly enhance LIV Golf’s appeal.
