One after another, LIV Golf players have been getting many setbacks from the PGA Tour. Suspension until further notice, not able to play in any of the Tour-sanctioned events… the LIV rebels have been getting nothing but negative responses from the American golf organization. And the Tour has sent another letter to the likes of Phil Mickelson regarding their future with them, and it is not in the players’ favor!

“The Tour cannot enter into a membership agreement with a player,” the letter from the Tour to players read“When, as here, it reasonably anticipates the player will not perform the material obligations under that agreement.” Morning Reed reported the news about the letter first, and later Golf Digest confirmed it.

According to the letter, the LIV rebels would not be able to renew their membership for the 2022-2022 season of the PGA Tour. Notably, the new move from the Tour wouldn’t affect a lot of players like Dustin Johnson and Patrick Reed, who have already resigned from the Tour to play in the LIV events. However, it is a major setback for players like Mickelson and Bryson DeChambeau as they still haven’t resigned from the Tour.

Notably, 11 LIV Golf players have filed an antitrust lawsuit against the American golf organization. Nevertheless, the new notice from the Tour ensures that the LIV rebels never get a chance to play in the Tour-sanctioned events.

Golf world’s reaction to the notice of the PGA Tour to the LIV Golf rebels

Since LIV Golf’s inception, many PGA Tour policies have changed. The officials have increased the purse of many events and added new ‘Elevated events’ to the schedule. They have also raised the Player Impact Program fund to $100 million. Furthermore, they have also guaranteed money of a minimum of $500,000 for each member per annum.

As a result, not many fans still hold a grudge against the LIV rebels as they think the Tour made changes because of them. On top of it, LIV Golf has paid its players millions upfront to play in its Invitational Series. Therefore, several fans commented in favor of the LIV rebels.
