The Pinehurst No. 6 golf course recently hosted the new tournament of USGA, the US Adaptive this week. The final victory for the women’s overall titles was Kipp Popert and the winner of the men’s overall titles was Ryanne Jackson. And next year it will be hosting the grand 2024 US Open.

However, there is an altogether different reason why the iconic course is gathering attention in spite of being the host to such big tournaments. Pinehurst has been witness to a very sweet love story that unraveled on its course where golf played cupid!

A golf-rooted love story that grew on the Pinehurst Golf Courses

The most important things in life come at the most unexpected moments. And that is what happened with PGA Professionals Gabby and Tanner Steiner, who found each other on the golf course. The story was shared by PGA on their Instagram page.

Tanner has graduated from the Professional Golf Management program at California University of Pennsylvania, and Gabby played Division I college golf at James Madison University.

The couple met six years ago in 2016. Gabby was an intern at the Pinehurst Golf Academy and Tanner was working as an assistant at The Country Club of North Carolina (CCNC). The couple was introduced to each other through mutual golf professional friends.

After her internship, Gabby started her professional career as a dual PGA/LPGA Member at Pinehurst where she went on to become the Head Professional and the first woman to hold that role at Pinehurst. These days she works as the PGA/LPGA Lead Assistant Professional at Dormie Club. Tanner is continuing to work at CCNC but now has been promoted to the position of PGA Head Professional since 2021. Both became PGA members in 2020. The couple tied the knot in August 2021 and are managing their marriage and golf careers simultaneously.

Speaking on their golf-surrounding relationship, Tanner says “The hardest part of us both being PGA Professionals is definitely the work-life balance, but we always make time for each other.” Golf is what brought them together and golf is what keeps them motivated. After a tough day at work, the couple plays nine holes to spend some quality time together. “Golf has taught us a lot that helps us with our marriage,” says Tanner. “One of those being not to take things so seriously.” And golf continues to be their anchor in life.
