Is Charlie Woods’s era already here? It may be. The month may have started with Charlie Woods losing his chance to play at the U.S. Open after he missed the qualifier; however, the son of Tiger Woods didn’t take too long to make his point that he is worth watching. The Benjamin School junior achieved his first AJGA victory on Wednesday at the Team TaylorMade Invitational held at Streamsong Resort’s Black Course. Given the monumental moment, what does the rising star do? He honors his father after shooting some of his most stunning scores this season.

Jr. Woods impressed throughout the tournament, starting strong with rounds of 70 and 65. In the final round, he took charge with five birdies on the front nine and just one bogey, maintaining his momentum by birdying three of the next four holes and finishing with four straight pars. His final round of 66 brought him to 15-under overall, securing a three-shot victory. Over the course of three rounds, he tallied 25 birdies and one eagle, despite making only three pars in his opening round. He completed the last 36 holes at 13 under, ultimately clinching the win with class for more than one reason.

While claiming his first AJGA event, the young rising star wore his father’s apparel brand, Sun Day Red. This wasn’t the first time; at the 2024 PNC Championship, Tiger Woods and Charlie Woods broke the old adage of keeping family and business separate. Charlie made headlines with a hole-in-one, while Tiger captivated fans. The father-son duo sported matching Sun Day Red apparel and golf shoes. Launched in early 2025 as a collaboration between Tiger Woods and TaylorMade, Sun Day Red aims to incorporate modern performance standards into golf apparel. Essentially, Jr. Woods’ win at the Team TaylorMade Invitational in his father’s gear is a pretty big statement. Will he officially become a part of it? Likely.

Of course, on the game front, Charlie Woods’ performance in the 2025 season is commendable in more than one way. Woods currently holds the No. 604 ranking in the AJGA, based on his performance in four previous tournaments. His best result was in his latest AJGA event, where he tied for 25th at the esteemed Junior Invitational at Sage Valley in March. Earlier, in late February, he finished tied for 52nd at the Dustin Johnson World Junior Championship. In 2024, Woods also tied for 28th place at the Adam Scott Junior Championship and finished tied for 240th at the 76th United States Junior Amateur Championship.

Now, fresh off his first AJGA win, Charlie Woods is only a couple of weeks away from college coaches looking to recruit him. Aside from playing golf since childhood, he also has one of the greatest golfers on his side: Tiger Woods. Plus, of course, his faith in his son.

Tiger Woods emphasizes the importance of authenticity in his son Charlie Woods’s golf journey, encouraging him to forge his own path rather than simply emulating his father’s style. He often reminds Charlie Woods, “Just be you,” and adds, “Yes, he’s my son. He’s going to have my last name, and it’s going to be part of his core. But I just want him to be just himself and be his own person.” The GOAT believes that his son is doing a great job navigating the challenges of modern golf, where constant media attention is part of the game, stating, “That’s just part of his generation, and that’s part of the world that he has to maneuver through.”

As for Charlie Woods’s performance, he has made notable improvements, particularly with a shortened backswing that enhances his control over his irons, leading to greater precision in his shots. Tiger Woods notes, “I always encourage him to carve his own name, carve his own path and have his own journey.” This adjustment not only helps Charlie Woods sync better with his longer clubs but also allows him to maintain a more consistent swing. Charlie Woods showcases a powerful and free-flowing swing, characterized by a wide stance and a smooth takeaway. His technique features an aggressive squat and rotation, which contribute to a dynamic and effective swing. These elements, combined with his recent adjustments, position Charlie Woods for continued success on the course.
