According to Spiranac, Woods‘ comeback might ultimately help Thomas. The 28-year-old apparently worked hard to get out of Jordan Spieth’s shadow and works with an underdog mentality. With all the attention on Woods, Thomas might just ‘fly under the radar’.
This, as per Spiranac, might actually help Thomas. He has thrived under such circumstances and had worked hard to get out of it as well.
“When they are talking about Tiger, they’re like, oh, and JT is there, you know, just, you know, helping him out. He’s there, you know, he’s just there. He’s not really that big storyline anymore,” Spiranac said. “And so I think it’s gonna be like a really good comeback for him to, you know, kind of change things around after having kind of a hard couple of years.”
While Spiranac does not mention who might or might not win the Masters, her message was clear. Though Woods motivates himself, he will also end up helping Thomas.
Can Thomas or Woods win the Masters?
Of course, both Woods and Thomas have had different career paths for the past few months. While Thomas has won The Players Championship (2021), Woods will be returning after months.
