The Olympian Michael Phelps‘ father passed away recently. The G.O.A.T. of swimming informed the devastating news through a social media post. Soon after, many in the sports world conveyed their condolence to the athlete through their comments; Tony Finau and Boyd Summerhays were among them.

“You’ll always be my dad… And I’ll always be your son… Love you dad and I will miss you❤️❤️ rip dad.” Phelps‘ caption and rare pictures of his father gained many heartfelt comments from the sports entities.
Tony Finau sent his condolences to Michael Phelps through an Instagram comment.
The 23-time Olympic gold medal winner announced the demise of his father, Fred, through Instagram on Monday. Along with his emotional caption, he posted three photos of his father. While one of them features Phelps sr. with his son, the others had him smiling while holding babies, likely of two of the swimming champion’s babies.

“Condolences bro ❤️🙏🏾,” Finau, who has recently been famous for sharing an ‘embarrassing fart story‘ from his first-ever tournament, wrote. Notably, the golfer shares a great bond with his family.
In fact, he went fishing with his kids during the weather delay during the 2022 3M Open tournament, which he eventually won. The 4-time PGA Tour winner, his wife, siblings and their partners, and children took Finau Sr. to Inglewood, Los Angeles, as part of his 60th birthday. The golfer even shared the precious time the family spent together in his father’s hometown through an Instagram post.

Apart from Finau, Boyd Summerhays is one of the others from the golf world to react to the sudden demise of the athlete’s father. The professional player-turned-coach wrote, “❤️thing of you and your family🥺,” in the Phelp’s comment section.

Finau’s unexpected fourth PGA Tour victory
After the third round at the 3M Open, the American professional golfer Scott Piercy had a massive lead. However, Tony Finau was in contention to win after the third round with his impressive 65.

On Sunday, while Finau continued his incredible game, Piercy lost his lead after failing to keep his form in the final round. Finau scored 67 in the final round and finished 1st place, whereas the latter scored 76 and finished in the T4 position. It was his fourth-ever victory on the PGA Tour.
