And Lydia Ko is one of them. However, the pro golfer once expressed that she was going to retire from the sport to switch to a “second career”.

Why does Lydia Ko want to retire?

Ko is one of the most renowned golfers across the globe. The 25-year-old star is currently at the top on the leaderboard in the CME Group Tour Championship, LPGA’s season finale. And despite all her success in the field of golf, Ko once expressed her wish to switch to another career of her choice. And that too not after a very long time.

In an interview, Ko talked about wanting to have a second career for herself after she retired from golf. But the surprising part was that she wanted to retire as soon as she turned 30! “I say my plan is to retire when I’m 30 so I’m not just going to go to the beach and hang out for the rest of my life,” Ko said“There’s always a second career that comes along with it and I’m trying to build up towards it and, because I’m playing a sport, psychology links well with it.”

Ko has been winning professional tournaments since she was just 15 years old. The golfer was the youngest woman to win $1 million on the LPGA Tour. The Korean-born New Zealand professional has also achieved the number 1 rank in the world. Moreover, she was the youngest player to be ranked number 1 among both men and women.

Ko takes the lead in the CME Group Tour Championship

Lydia Ko is on the top of the final standings at the CME Group Tour Championship. The golfer ended her round after hitting a seven-under 65 in her first round. Ko took a one-shot lead over Thailand’s Danielle Kang and Pajaree Anannarukarn. She hit seven birdies down the way to the end of her amazing round.
