When Tiger Woods Had the Perfect Reaction to Phil Mickelson Joining the Champions Tour: ‘There’s No Reason Why He Can’t Win Every Event He Plays Out There’

Tiger Woods is arguably one of the best golf players of all time. The 15- time major championship winner is also a member of the World Golf Hall of Fame. Notably, his rivalry with fellow golf professional, Phil Mickelson, is one of the most enjoyed ones by golfing fans all over the world as both try to outperform each other, often engaging in banter as well.

Despite the rivalry, both professionals have huge respect for each other and Tiger also admired Phil’s talent in an interview.

Tiger Woods, who is the former World No. 1, enjoys a healthy rivalry with another giant of the sport, Phil Mickelson. Both of the professionals are often seen trying to outshine each other and be on the top. Phil is also a six-time major championship winner and is a brilliant golfer himself.

Deservingly, Woods doesn’t back down from admiring the talent that Phil possesses. In an interview back in 2020, Tiger was asked about Phil’s debut at the PGA Tour of Champions. He said, “His wedge game, you know, off the charts, as we all know and, and give him a wedge in there, he’s gonna put it up, put it inside of 10-15 feet, you know each and every time hole those, you know momentum in keeps going. There’s no reason why he can’t win, you know, every event he plays out there. He’s got such a big advantage over the rest of the field just for sheer length.”

Phil Mickelson creates history

In 2021, lefty created history. He became the oldest major championship winner aged 50; Phil won the 2021 PGA Championship. He broke the record of Julius Boros, who won the PGA Championship back in 1968 at 48.
