The Swedish golfer, Alex Noren, is in the strongest position he has ever been in to secure a major title at the PGA Championship. The golfer is tracking Scottie Scheffler by three strokes and finds himself in the final pairing of the PGA Championship alongside Scottie Scheffler, following a third-round score of 66. But what’s driving such amazing scores for Noren? Well, part of the reason is his caddie, Kyle Morrison.

Kyle Morrison finished his graduation from California State University, Bakersfield. Having completed his degree in 2011, Morrison started taking his caddie duties more seriously. In fact, he secured regular appearances at the LPGA Tour by collaborating with Anna Nordqvist, Mo Martin, and Jessica Korda.

As a caddie, Morrison has achieved several successes, with a notable highlight being his support for Martin during her victory at the Women’s Open Championship in 2014. This win at the 2014 AIG Women’s Open at Royal Birkdale stands out as a significant moment in his caddying journey. Following his time with Martin, Morrison enjoyed a fruitful period with Nordqvist, who captured three titles, including the 2017 Evian Championship.

Morrison caddied for Korda from 2019 until 2023, when Joe LaCava, Tiger Woods’s former caddie, took over her responsibilities. Thanks to Morrison’s timely and solid inputs, Korda celebrated her win at the 2021 Diamond Resorts Tournament of Champions with Kyle Morrison on her bag. Following this came her 3rd place finish at the Kingsmill Championship, with Morrison still by her side.  Interestingly, Kyle Morrison was also present during Alex Noren’s 2024 PGA Championship gameplay; however, perhaps nothing speaks volumes about Morrison’s admiration for Noren than his belief in the golfer.

In 2024, discussing his T13 finish at the Open, Noren said, “I’m learning. I’m learning. And I’m trying. I haven’t slowed down. I should get better. I’m only 42.” Alex Noren wasn’t wrong, however. The world of golf does provide the golfers with the opportunity to play professionally for quite some years. The only issue is that, over the years, the average age of top-ranked players has been in a decline. Given this concern, Noren still performed quite well in the 2024 season. By the time July rolled around, he had 12 top-25 finishes.

Commenting on Noren’s performance in 2024, Kyle Morrison said, “He’s actually gotten better. He started playing better in the fall and got a lot more confident, so he doesn’t have to spend that much time practicing. But he just loves doing it.” And what was the source of Morrison’s confidence? Noren’s approach to practice, treating each shot as if it could be a winning lottery ticket—valuable because its true worth is uncertain. The night before the 2024 PGA Championship, he was one of the last golfers remaining on the course. Similarly, the evening before the 2024 U.S. Open in June, he engaged in a putting session at 6 p.m. Young golfers usually receive warnings against such practices, as they can lead to fatigue and diminish performance.

But Kyle Morrison wasn’t done writing poems for his golfer. He went as far as comparing Noren to Padraig Harrington for his habit of never stopping the grind. Although it is not clear exactly when, Noren and Morrison likely started working together by the 2023 season. Additionally, before Morrison, Noren worked with caddie Mark Crane.  However, as we saw earlier, Kyle Morrison, an avid golfer himself, also maintains a healthy life outside the golf course with his family.

Kyle Morrison maintains a lovely relationship with his family

If you take a look at Kyle Morrison’s Instagram account, you’ll find two recurring themes: golf and family. The former is his profession, which makes him a happy man outside the home. The latter brings him joy everywhere, as evident in his Instagram posts. Kyle Morrison and his wife, Laura, welcomed their baby girl, Ada, two years ago, and since then, they have enjoyed being a happy, small family.

In fact, according to an Instagram update from April, the couple celebrated Ada’s 2nd birthday. In his Instagram post, Morrison said, “Happy Birthday to both my girls! Special thank you to @lday19 for making Ada’s 2nd birthday so special. Her “mermaid party” was so fun!” Earlier this year, the couple went to Hawaii and encountered a whale, as stated by Morrison, who said of the trip, “Not the trip to Hawaii we envisioned but we had a blast nonetheless!”

Needless to say, Kyle Morrison is winning both in and out of the course–and if Alex Noren maintains his form, the caddie will likely have a “major” to celebrate!
